Blockchain and DLT, CEN and CENELEC create “focus group”

Objective: “Identifying specific standardization needs at European level”

20180110_2.jpgThe European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) have created a new “focus group” on Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT), in order to “contribute even more actively to the stakeholders’ digital transformation.”
The objectives of the focus group, among others, are to identify potential specific European standardization needs, particularly in support to the activities developed in ISO/TC 307 “ Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies.”
New developments of Blockchain and DLT in the field of ICT, explains a message, promise to make a great contribution to the sharing of data and the managing of transactions in a controlled manner, as they “have a large potential to transform business operating models in the long term and to provide an infrastructure for trusted, decentralized and disintermediated services beyond the financial sector.” These technologies can actually be integrated in multiple areas, with applications in the finance, insurance, energy, health, manufacturing and e-government sectors.
