Marche, new air quality measures

Actions to be taken on industry emissions and biomass use

20180209_2.jpgProduction activities that are authorized for emissions to the atmosphere will have to reduce overall and nitrogen oxides particulates by 10% compared to set limits. Bakeries and restaurants will not be allowed to use wood-based biomass combustion for cooking purposes, unless their machinery is equipped with adequate systems to reduce emissions by at least 50%. Heating systems for public and private buildings will not be allowed to use solid biomass when the property is equipped with a different, less-polluting heating system.
These are some of the air quality measures that have recently been approved by the Regional Council of Marche. Planned actions (which allow for waivers for specific cases and concern coastal and valley areas) also include the municipalities’ promotion of sustainable mobility initiatives and incentives for replacing highly-polluting appliances.
