Blockchain, IoT, 5G: Italy allies with the Med7 countries
Strategy of new technologies development with Spain, France, Malta, Cyprus, Greece and
Italy has signed a declaration Blockchain development in the framework of Med7, a group established by seven South European countries (Spain, France, Malta, Cyprus, Greece and Portugal).
The declaration recognizes that Blockchain - and more generally Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT) – “can play a determining role in the development of those countries.” Therefore it is necessary “to create also technical coordination under Med7, to experiment the use of those and emerging technologies (5G, Internet of Things, AI).”
In the course of negotiations that preceded the signature of the declaration, informs a message, Italy pointed out that “it is determining to favor the awareness and testing of the emerging technologies at all levels and ensure that in the process of creation of a reference legal framework, their decentralized nature should be maintained.”
“We commit ourselves to make Italy a leader in Blockchain development and testing, in the Mediterranean basin and in Europe,” declared Minister of Economic Development, Luigi Di Maio.
