Universities, Bologna Italy’s leader in sustainability
In the global ranking GreenMetric 4 Italian higher education institutions in the top
The University of Bologna is the best performing higher education institution in terms of sustainability in Italy. It is followed by the Universities of Turin, Venice Ca’ Foscari and Milan-Bicocca. It is shown by the GreenMetric ranking published by the end of 2018, which evaluates as indicators the actions relating to climate change, water and energy consumption, waste recycling and sustainability of transportation.
The initiative was launched in 2010 by Indonesian University of Jakarta and the last year’s survey covered a sample of 719 institutions from 80 countries. At global level, Dutch University of Wageningen is ranked first and it is followed by those of Nottingham (UK) and California Davis (U.S.).
As for Italy, the global ranking included 26 universities with Bologna holding position 15, Turin 47, Venice 88 and Milan 98.
