Cybersecurity: operators of essential services determined
Public and private entities must act for digital security of transportation
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transportation, as national competent authority, has determined the Essential Services Operators (ESO) for cybersecurity in the sector of transportation. At the same time, it also established the measures that ESO will have to adopt to manage risks and methods to evaluate their compliance with the standards
A message informs that the next steps will include notifying the identified organizations about their status of “National ESO” by January 31. Qualification will be repeated at least every two years.
The message underlines that the one that has just been completed is of paramount importance to ensure a “cyber” ecosystem set forth by directive EU 2016/1148 (NIS), the crucial points of which are also embraced by the CSIRT (Computer Security Incident Response Team) established by the Council Presidency and the Single Contact Point set up within the Department of Information and Security (DIS).
