Efficiency, new EU energy labels

For dishwashers, washing machines, washer-driers, refrigerators, lamps and electronic displays

On Monday, the European Commission adopted six delegated regulations containing new energy labels for dishwashers, washing machines, washer-driers, lamps and electronic displays (including TV screens) and domestic and professional refrigerators pursuant to regulation 2017/1369 which has eliminated the energy labels from “A+++” to “G” introducing the classes from “A” to “G.”
The European Parliament and the EU Council of Ministers have, during a two-month period, a right to express an objection after which, if none are received, the texts will be published in the Official Journal of the European Union. These new labels, which include a QR code, will be visible for European consumers in stores as of March 1, 2021.
Moreover, in July 2019, the Commission plans to adopt a set of 11 ecodesign regulations, covering the 6 product groups with the new labels (precisely dishwashers, washing machines, washer-driers, domestic and professional refrigerators), and 5 additional product groups for which no label is foreseen (electric motors, power transformers, servers, data storage products, external power supplies and welding equipment).
