LNG, the terminal in Gibraltar launched
The facility will make it possible to transform from diesel to gas the enclave’s power
“ Finally, we have made the crucial switch to cleaner power generation,” said Gibraltar’s Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, at the opening of an LNG regasification terminal of the British enclave in Spain.
The terminal, completed by Shell and Gasnor (a 100% Shell-owned subsidiary), will allow Gibraltar to switch its electricity generation from diesel to natural gas, thanks to a newly commissioned 80 MW power plant fired with this source.
A message explains that LNG will be transported to the new terminal twice a month by means of LNG carriers and stored in five depots of 1,000 m3 each.
