Italgas wins the Mob App Award at the 2013 Smau convention in Turin
On the occasion of the 2013 Smau ICT convention in Turin, Italgas (Snam group) has won the Mob App Award in the category Work Force Management for its "Gas to Go" application.
The event, which takes place on 8 and 9 May in Turin, is promoted by the Observatories of the School of Management of Politecnico di Milano in cooperation with Smau and with the media partnership of Wireless4Innovation and awards the best business and consumer Apps running on next-generation mobile devices (tablets, smartphones and pads) developed in the North West of Italy.
"Gas to Go," the in-house application developed by Snam’s Information Technology department, is already running on iPads provided to technicians and enables Italgas to greatly improve its service efficiency and complete a significant integration process of different business information systems.
With “Gas to Go?, Italgas provides its technicians a wide range of mobile tools, such as the list of activities assigned; the check of the materials needed to carry them out; the digital archive and cartography of interventions; FaceTime to share solutions for specific operational complexities; an integrated navigation system; corporate procedures, instructions and technical standards; e-learning courses for resource training and education.
By integrating in a single support all the different operations - once performed by separate functions inside the Company - "Gas-to-Go" brought significant positive outcomes in terms of efficiency, such as the paperless operating mode enabling to save more than 5 tons of paper per year and 12,500 kwh required to produce it; the optimization of routes (passing from an average of 14.9 km per day per activity in 2011 to 10.6 in early 2013, with a reduction of nearly 30%), which significantly reduced CO2 emissions and increased efficiency and productivity.
