Snam ranked best for corporate governance in Italy

First place in the Integrated Governance Index; also received awards for digital communication and stakeholder engagement.

According to the annual Integrated Governance Survey carried out by the specialist magazine, EticaNews, Snam is the best Italian company for corporate governance and for the integration of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) targets into corporate strategies.

The survey examined major listed and unlisted Italian industrial companies, and found that Snam excelled in its inclusion of ESG issues in its management model and stakeholder disclosure.

In 2018, Snam published the thirteenth edition of their Sustainability Report, which included key ESG targets achieved by the company. They also published the first edition of their Report on Climate Change, in line with the Task Force on Climate Related Disclosure (TCFD)’s recommendations. A month ago, Snam launched a committee comprised of its Board of Directors, with the responsibility of proposing and consulting on environmental, social and corporate governance issues at board level. All Index results and sector rankings will be presented and discussed by experts and investors at the ESG Business Conference in Milan on 13th June.

Snam also ranked top in Italy for its commitment to discussing sustainability strategies on digital platforms, and interacting with stakeholders through social media. The company was also recognised by Lundquist, who awarded Snam a "Gold Class" position in their “Future Italia Top 100” study. The aim of the research was to analyse companies' ability to communicate a tangible, well-structured and credible commitment to sustainability on social media, by encouraging consumer engagement.
