Snam4Mobility: natural gas for sustainable mobility
g-mobility: compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied natural gas (LNG) and biomethane as a cleaner and more efficient alternative to traditional fuels.
Snam, the leading gas utility in Europe, plans to boost g-mobility
Snam4Mobility is Snam’s new subsidiary. Its mission is to promote improvements in the natural gas for transport distribution network in Italy, through direct investments and agreements with other operators. Its aim is to support the development of refueling systems and to distribute them in a more balanced way in the country’s different regions. It also aims to improve the quality of service provided to users.
Snam4Mobility currently has 19 contracted service stations and the opening of the first CNG refueling point is scheduled for the second half of 2018 in Pesaro.
Snam's investments in sustainable mobility are part of a partnership with FCA and IVECO, which intend to further expand their ranges of natural gas vehicles.
With its consolidated and world-leading cutting-edge technology, Italy is the first European market for methane fuel consumption, with over 1 million vehicles currently in circulation and about 1,200 distributors in operation.
Compared to traditional fuels, natural gas cuts down particulate emissions and significantly reduces carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides, also allowing significant savings when filling the tank.
