A more frequent use of gas results in minor emissions of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and particulate matter
Natural gas is a clean and versatile energy source. Ensuring a significant reduction in CO2 emissions compared to other fossil fuels, methane is suitable for several uses, including power generation, heating and industrial production.
Moreover, it has several benefits:
- Already existing and efficient transmission, distribution and storage infrastructures, ensuring a flexible, programmable and economical energy system
- Significant availability of large gas reserves next to Europe and further supply throught the global LNG market
- Immediate utilization as a transport fuel for light (CNG) and heavy (LNG) vehicles thanks to technologies that enhance the Italian industrial value chain
- Development of biomethane, exploiting the existing gas network and generating positive effects on the agri-food sector, thus promoting an economic model based on sustainability and circularity in the use of resources
