Carlo Malacarne

Chairman

Carlo Malacarne has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of Snam on April 27, 2016.

He was Chief Executive Officer of Snam from 2006 to 2016.

With a degree in Electronic Engineering and after a brief period in the company Selecontrol, Carlo Malacarne began his career in Snam in the gas transport technical service. In 1990, he took on a managerial position as operations manager of a natural gas transport district, ensuring the construction and operation of pipelines and promoting commercial initiatives to support the sale of natural gas.

Subsequently, as Director of Telecommunications and Process Systems, he contributed to the achievement of the reorganization objectives for the telecommunications systems of the Eni Group and, in particular, he participated in the transfer of the Snam telecommunications branch, with the creation of a New Telecommunications Company, of which he was named Managing Director.

In March 1998, he was appointed Constructions Director, with the responsibility of ensuring the realization of investments both in Italy as well as abroad. During the same period, he was a member of the construction committees in TENP, the pipeline which transports gas from the North Sea to Italy, and TAG, which transports the Russian gas to Italy via Austria, taking part to the implementation of strategic infrastructure for gas transportation along the main European energy corridors.

In July 1999, he was appointed Italian Network Director, with the task of overseeing the management of the gas transport network in Italy and of the GNL Italia regasification system.

In July 2001, ahead of the IPO, he was appointed General Manager of Operations in Snam Rete Gas, and President of the Board of GNL Italia, the company managing the LNG terminal in Panigaglia.

From December 2005 to the beginning of May 2006 he was Chief Operating Officer of Snam Rete Gas with the task of supervising, together with management functions, commercial activities, planning, management of the transport network and the dispatching service.

From November 2012 to April 2016 he has been Chairman of the Board of Snam Rete Gas, a Snam's subsidiary company that operates in natural gas transportation and dispatching.

He is currently member of the executive committees of Confindustria and Assolombarda and of several technical bodies such as the Presidential committee of CIG (Italian Gas Committee) and the steering committee of ATIG (Technical Gas Association). From 1997 to 2000 he has been Chairman of the Transport committee of IGU (International Gas Union).

From November 2013 to October 2015 he has been Chairman of Confindustria Energia.

He has been also CEO of Mariconsult and board member of several international gas companies such as Transitgas, which manages the gas transportation system from Northern to Southern Switzerland, and the companies Sergaz and Scogat, which manage the Tunisian part of the Transmed pipeline.

Marco Alverà

Marco Alverà

Chief Executive Officer

Marco Alverà has been Chief Executive Officer at Snam since April 27, 2016. Previously he was Chief Operating Officer from January to April 2016.

Since 22 April 2016 he is also Chairman of the Board of Snam Rete Gas, a Snam's subsidiary company that operates in natural gas transportation and dispatching.

With a degree in Philosophy and Economics from the London School of Economics, Marco Alverà began his career in London working in Private Equity and M&A. In 2000 he founded Netesi, Italy’s first broadband ADSL company.

In 2002, he joined Enel as Director of Group Corporate Strategy and member of the management committee, contributing significantly to the development of the company's gas strategy and participating in the listing of Terna.

In 2004 he became Chief Financial Officer of Wind Telecom and oversaw the sale of Wind to Orascom.

In 2005, he joined Eni as Director of Supply & Portfolio Development at the Gas & Power Division, successfully managing the outcomes of the gas crisis between Russia and Ukraine in the Winter of 2006, and taking part in the negotiation of the international agreement on gas supplies.

In that role, he also oversaw the acquisition of Belgium’s Distrigas in the delicate unbundling process from Fluxys. During the same period, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Bluestream and Promgas and was in charge of the development of new routes for natural gas towards Europe from the Caspian area, Iran, the Middle East and Africa.

In 2008 he moved to Eni’s Exploration & Production Division as Executive Vice President for Russia, North Europe, and North and South America. In these countries, he managed operations and led negotiations with governments and other international oil companies.

In 2010 he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Eni Trading and Shipping, which manages all commodity Trading and Shipping activities for the company, and in 2012 he became Senior Executive Vice President Optimisation and Trading. In 2013, he took on responsibility for the business unit Midstream, which consolidates the results of Eni’s Gas & Power Division and brings together all of the supply, logistics and trading activities of the energy commodities. From July to September 2015 he was the Chief Retail Market Gas & Power Officer.

He has been a board member of Gazprom Neft, the Performance Theatre, the Global Leadership and Technology Exchange, and Eni Foundation. He was also the Operating Vice President of EUROGAS, the European association that brings together the leading international operators in the natural gas sector, and founding member of the ginger group, which promotes natural gas in Europe, together with Shell, BG, Total and Statoil.

Patrizia Rutigliano

Patrizia Rutigliano

Public Affairs and Communications

Patrizia Rutigliano was appointed as Executive Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications at Snam in December 2009.

From June 2011 to July 2016 she was President of Ferpi, the Italian Federation of Public Relations.

A professional journalist, she began her career at Mondo Economico, before moving onto Fininvest and Euronews.

Between October 1997 and January 2001 she was Spokesperson for Milan City Council, during the privatization phase of the major local utilities.

From January 2001 to March 2004 she was Head of External Relations at Fastweb and Manager of the e.Biscom Press Office, playing a key role in the start-up of the company from its listing onwards.

Between April 2004 and November 2009 she was Director of Communications at Autogrill, where she was involved in the development and diversification of the Group's business in Italy and abroad.

She is currently member of the General Council of Assolombarda, where she is also member of the Energy Group and coordinator for Oil & Gas industry.

She is currently Board member of TIGF Holding, Toscana Energia, Fiera Milano – in which she is also a member of the Control and Risk committee – and of Il Cittadino di Monza e Brianza.

She is a lecturer at the High School of Media, Communication and Entertainment at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan, as part of the Master's course in Media Relations and Corporate Communications.

Since 2012 she is a member of the steering committee of the Department of Political Science at LUISS Guido Carli of Rome. She is also a member of the scientific committee of RIE (Industrial and Energetic Research).

She has a degree in Foreign Languages and Literature, her thesis focusing on aspects of the Jewish culture in the films of Woody Allen, and produced together with the Faculty of Arts and Science of Columbia University.

She specialized in Social Communications at Università Cattolica of Milan, where she also attended a Master's in International Management.

Marco Reggiani, lawyer, since January 2010, is group General Counsel Legal, Corporate and Compliance Affairs.

Furthermore, he is Secretary of the Board of Directors of Snam, member of the Management Committee of Snam and also Board member of Snam Rete Gas and Stogit. From April 2012 is Chairman of Italgas.

Graduated in Law at the University of Parma, he achieved the Master on advanced studies in trans-national law at the University of Trento. Former Professor of Environmental Law at the LIUC University of Castellanza and former Chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee of Assomineraria, he previously covered management roles in the Eni group from 2001 until the end of 2009.

Antonio Paccioretti

Antonio Paccioretti

A graduate in Business and Economics at the Bocconi University in Milan, he began his career in Snam in 1989 in the Administration, Finance and Control Dept where he was gradually promoted through various managerial positions, becoming Head of the Financial Dept in 2000.

In this position, he acquired international experience also covering managerial roles in the affiliates in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Tunisia and the Netherlands. In 2001 he was involved in all the various stages of Snam Rete Gas listing process, the largest IPO that year in Italy.

From 2002 to 2006, he was appointed as Head of Equity and Debt Capital Market activities in Eni. Amongst various transactions, he dealt with public offer for the shares of Italgas in 2003, the placement of the second tranche of Snam Rete Gas shares in 2004 and other corporate finance transactions including the sale of Eni’s stake in Albacom and the sale of Snamprogetti to Saipem as well as various debt capital market exercises.

In 2006 he was appointed Managing Director of Eni Coordination Centre SA, the Brussels-based company responsible for the international financial activities of Eni.

He returned in Snam in 2007 as Group CFO where he participated to the execution of the strategy of the company with the acquisition of Italgas and Stogit in Italy and of the stake in TIGF and in TAG abroad.

He is the Chaiman of the Board of Stogit and Gasrule Insurance Ltd, the Dublin-based captive insurance company of the Group as well as Board member of Snam Rete Gas and Italgas.

He’s responsible for preparing corporate accounting documents and financial reports for the Group pursuant to Article 154-bis of Legislative Decree 58/1998.

He has extensive knowledge in the Equity and Debt Capital Market as well as M&A and debt structured finance transactions in Italy and abroad, mainly in the Oil & Gas and Utilities sectors.

Silvio Bianchi

Silvio Bianchi

Internal Audit *

Silvio Bianchi is Head of the Internal Audit of Snam since December 2002 and is responsible for providing analysis, evaluations, provisions and recommendations on the design and operating of the internal control system within Snam and its subsidiaries.

Since 2004 he is member of the Watch Structure established by the Company according to D. Lgs. 231/2001.

Silvio Bianchi started out on his career path in 1988 in the field of auditing and internal control in the chemical business of the Eni Group, assuming responsibility for it in May 1999.

In June 2000 he moved to Eni as part of the centralization project of group auditing activities, assuming the role of Chemical Auditing Manager.

A graduate in Economics and Business at the University of Perugia, he also gained the Certified Internal Auditor qualification issued by the Institute of Internal Auditors.

Marco Porro

Marco Porro

Investor Relations

Marco Porro is Head of Investor Relations since July 2006.

A graduate in Business Economics at the Bocconi University of Milan, he joined Snam as an economist dealing with preparation of the long-term energy demand scenarios.

Whilst at Snam, he was assistant to the manager of Strategic Planning, from July 1997 until the end of 2000.

At the end of 2000, he took on the role of Project Manager for the transfer of gas transport assets to the NewCo Rete Gas Italia and, subsequently, for its listing on the Stock Exchange as Snam Rete Gas in December 2001.

From then up until May 2002 he took on the duties of assistant to the Investor Relations manager of Snam Rete Gas. He was then appointed as Financial Analyst Relations Manager in the Investor Relations Department of the Parent company Eni. In July 2006 he was named Head of Investor Relations in Snam.

Federico Ermoli

Business Development and International Business

Federico Ermoli has been Executive Vice President of Business Development and International Business at Snam since April 2013.

A graduate in Business and Economics with a Master’s degree in Corporate Finance from Bocconi University in Milan, he began his management career in Snam’s Finance department in 1984.

He later acquired further international experience as coordinator of International Business at Eni Gas & Power covering numerous positions of responsibility at overseas companies in Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Tunisia and the Netherlands.

These roles included those of CEO of GALP Energia and CEO of Transgas, from 2001 to 2004. He also carried out project management roles in industrial projects such as the development of the Blue Stream underwater gas pipeline between Russia and Turkey, and for M&A operations such as the acquisition of French company TIGF.
CFO of Italgas between 2006 and 2011, he returned to Snam in January 2012 as Director of Planning, Insurance and Finance to guide the start-up of the company’s financial activities.

Sergio Busato

Master Degree in Geology (University "La Sapienza" in Rome).

Since July 2015, Executive Vice President Human Resources, Organization & Security in Snam S.p.A..

He developed his first experience in ore mining exploration with University of Roma, Enea (Nuclear and Alternative Energy Association) and Agip Nucleare S.p.A.. In 1985, he joined Agip S.p.A..

After an experience in the upstream business, onshore and offshore, he moved in the HR&Organization General Division where, from 1990 to 1997, has developed his career playing roles, in Italy and abroad, with increasing responsibilities in Change Management, Education&Training, HR Management, Industrial Relations, Organization, Health&Safety.

He contributes, since the first negotiation phase of early 90’s, to the development of the initiatives, which leads to the project ventures carried out in Kazkahstan. From 1998 to 2001 he worked mainly in Kazakhstan, England and Russia, as Human Resources Senior Manager of the Karachaganak Joint Venture built together with partner Oil Co. from UK, USA, Russia, Kazkahstan.

After such experience he was back in Agip S.p.A. and named International Human Resources Vice President till 2005, completing his professional, human and social experience in more than 30 countries.

Along the following years he further reinforces his professional profile assuming the accountability of the HR,Organization&ICT Dpt in company leader operating in Engineering, Power Generation and Photovoltaic business (Snamprogetti ed Enipower) and then in Engineering&Construction business (Saipem) focused on the HR International Management, Administration and Industrial Relations.

In 2009 he joined Eni S.p.A. as Human Resources Senior Vice President Refining&Marketing.

Since 2012 he is working in Snam Group. He was initially accountable for HR&HSEQ in Snam Rete Gas S.p.A. and later on, in 2013, he was nominated Head of International Business to boost and support the internationalization development strategy of Snam.

He was Board Director in Companies operating in Italy, Switzerland, Romania, Croatia.

Currently he is Board Director in Tigf S.A., the Company which is managing the Transport and Storage business in the South West of France, and in TAG Gmbh, the Austrian Company responsible to manage the Transport Pipeline along the interconnection route between Russia and Italy; in Tag he is guide member of the Remuneration Committee.

Gaetano Mazzitelli

Regulatory Affairs

Gaetano Mazzitelli is Executive Vice President of Regulatory Affairs of Snam since December 2011.

A graduate in Mechanical Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano, he also achieved a Master on Business for Energy and environment at the Eni School for higher studies "Enrico Mattei".

He began his career in Snam in 1995 and in 2000 he was appointed as Project Evaluation Manager. He took part to different national and international acquisition projects as well as to the unbundling of transmission and re-gasification activities.

In 2001 he was appointed as Manager for Project Evaluation and Tariffs at Snam Rete Gas, being in charge for ensuring the investment planning and defining tariff proposals related to regulated services. In this context, he took part to the IPO of the company, assessing in particular the areas of value generation in the new regulatory framework.

In 2006 he was appointed as Business Development Manager at Snam Rete Gas, in charge for ensuring the definition of tariffs and network code proposals, the gas demand forecast as well as the monitoring of market and regulation in order to identify development opportunities. In this context, he participated to the Stogit and Italgas acquisition project and to their subsequent integration.

In 2010 he took charge of the Regulation and in 2011 he was appointed as Executive Vice President of Regulatory Affairs of Snam. Currently he is Board Director in TAG Gmbh (the Austrian Company responsible to manage the Transport Pipeline along the interconnection route between Russia and Italy), in Interconnector UK Ltd (the pipeline connecting Great Britain with continental Europe) and in PRISMA European Capacity Platform GmbH.

He has also a long experience in the activities of Associative Bodies in the natural gas sector. Currently he is member of the Board of ENTSOG, Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) and Gas Storage Europe (GSE), the European Gas Infrastructure Operator associations, and an executive member of the Board of Directors in the National Association of Gas Industries (Anigas) in Confindustria.

Gloria Gazzano

Gloria Gazzano

Information & Communication Technology

Gloria Gazzano has been appointed Executive Vice President of Information & Communication Technology at Snam in January 2012.

With a degree in Mathematics from the Università Statale of Milan, Gloria Gazzano began her career at Olivetti in 1980, where she was involved in many important software development projects in Italy and the US in the areas of Operating Systems, Productivity and Education tools.
At the end of the 80’s she moved into the supply industry, firstly at Etnoteam and then at Engineering Ingegneria Informatica where, among other roles, she was Director of the Energy & Utilities Market and Managing Director of the group company Neta, specialising in the creation of products and solutions for the Utilities market, where she oversaw the integration process and the subsequent merger.
In 2008 she decided to capitalise on her experience in the supply industry by joining Italgas (Eni), Italian leader in the distribution of natural gas.
At Italgas, in 2009, following its acquisition by Snam, she led the ICT integration project involving the four companies Snam Rete Gas, Italgas, Stogit and Gnl Italia.

In early 2010 she was appointed manager of the centralised Snam Rete Gas ICT department.

Carlo Eligio Gramola

HSEQ, Property and Facilities Management

Since November 2013 Carlo Eligio Gramola has been in charge of the Health, Safety, Environment and Quality, and the Property and Facilities Management areas.

He graduated from Pavia University with a degree in Civil Engineering and he began his career at Snam in 1981 in the Research & Development Department.

He became Regional Manager for East Lombardy within the Natural Gas Transportation Department in 1990 with the responsibility of ensuring the functioning and construction of gas pipelines as well as gas sale.

From 1997 to 2000 he was Area Director in Rome with the task of managing a gas transportation network of over 6,000 km in the regions of central Italy.

In the 2000 he was appointed as Technical Manager in charge of supporting all Districts on gas measurement, maintenance rules and structure protection as well as transmission technologies.

In 2001 he transferred to Eni, in the Gas & Power Division, focusing on international transportation.

From 2002 to 2011 he was part of Eni’s Construction Department, firstly as Technical Services Manager and, from 2007, as Director. During this period, he also was the Chairman of the Construction Committees involved in the development of new gas pipelines (Transitgas in Switzerland, Tag in Austria and Tenp in Germany).

At the same time, he served as Managing Director of Mariconsult, Greenstream Italia and LNG Shipping. Additionally, he was on the Board of Directors of companies involved in gas transportation [BSPC (Russia), Sergaz (Tunisia), Transitgas (Switzerland)], construction [Scogat (Tunisia)], gas liquefaction [Segas (Egypt)] and gas distribution [Tigaz (Hungary)].

In June 2011 he became Executive Vice President of Eni Corporate in the field of Health, Safety, Environment & Quality.

In September 2012 he became Operations Director of Italgas.

Agostino Limonta

Agostino Limonta

Enterprise Risk Management

Agostino Limonta has been Head of Enterprise Risk Management at Snam since April 2013.
A Chemical Engineering graduate from Milan Polytechnic, he began his career at Snam in 1991 in the Research and Development Department, focusing on plants exposed to significant accident risk, plant risk analysis and consequence modelling. In this area he developed, promoted and launched initiatives for the implementation of a safety management system within the company, as well as environmental and quality audits. Having qualified as an Environmental Management System Auditor from FITA-Confindustria, he participated in the working group of the Civil Protection Department that develops the guidelines for Prefectures for the management of external emergencies.

In 1996 he was appointed Head of Safety Coordination and Environmental Protection and Head of the Prevention and Protection Service within the Natural Gas Transportation Department. In this role he began and completed the implementation of the provisions of Italian Legislative Decree 626/94. Within the transmission network, between 1997 and 2000 he was firstly Head of Technical Activities for the Marche, Abruzzo and Molise, and later Regional Manager for Tuscany. In 2001 he was made Head of Technical and Legal Activities within the Constructions Department guaranteeing, among other things, the authorisations for the development of medium-large transmission network investments and relative relations with central and local institutions. Between 2009 and 2011 he participated in the integration project following the Snam Group’s acquisition of Italgas and Stogit.
