The FTSE MIB is the primary benchmark Index for the Italian equity markets. The Index is comprised of highly liquid, leading companies across ICB sectors in Italy. The FTSE MIB Index measures the performance of 40 Italian equities and seeks to replicate the broad sector weights of the Italian stock market.

The EURO STOXX 50 Index, Europe's leading Blue-chip index for the Eurozone, provides a Blue-chip representation of supersector leaders in the Eurozone. The index covers 50 stocks from 12 Eurozone countries: Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain.
DJ Stoxx 600 Utilities
The STOXX Europe 600 Index is derived from the STOXX Europe Total Market Index (TMI) and is a subset of the STOXX Global 1800 Index. With a fixed number of 600 components, the STOXX Europe 600 Index represents large, mid and small capitalization companies in the utilities sector across 18 countries of the European region: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
Within the 2020 assessment Snam has been included in the Sustainability Yearbook 2021, as company’s sustainability performance is within the top 15% of the relative industry.
Following the December 2020 Index Review, FTSE International has informed that Snam has been independently assessed according to the FTSE Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) methodology and it has been reconfirmed in the FTSE4Good Index Series, where the company has been listed since 2002.
FTSE4Good was created by the FTSE Group to facilitate investments in companies that meet globally recognised corporate responsibility standards and constitutes an important reference point for the establishment of benchmarks and ethical portfolios. Companies in the FTSE4Good Index have met stringent environmental, social and governance criteria, and are therefore potentially better positioned to capitalise on the benefits of responsible business practice.
From July 2015 Snam is a costituent of MSCI World ESG and MSCI ACWI ESG indexes.
MSCI is a leading provider of investment decision support tools to investor globally, including asset managers, banks, hedge funds and pension funds. MSCI Global Sustainability Indexes include companies with high ESG ratings relative to their sector peers.
Snam has been recognized for leadership in corporate sustainability by global environmental non-profit CDP, securing a place on its prestigious ‘A List’ for tackling climate change. Snam was recognized for its actions to cut emissions, mitigate climate risks and develop the low-carbon economy, based on the data reported by the company through CDP’s 2020 climate change questionnaire.
Snam is one of a small number of high-performing companies out of 5,800+ that were scored. Through significant demonstrable action on climate, Snam is leading on corporate environmental ambition, action and transparency worldwide.
ET Index Research
ET Index Research, an independent research body, which ranks the world’s largest companies according to greenhouse gas emissions and disclosure, released its annual ET Carbon Rankings on 5 December and named Snam as an Industry Carbon Leader for 2016. Snam wins the award for ranking top of the SICS (Sustainability Industry Classification System) Oil and Gas (Midstream) Industry. The Engaged Tracking (ET) Carbon Rankings are compiled from publicly available emissions data taken from company sustainability reports, annual reports and websites. An ET Industry Carbon Leader is defined as the most carbon efficient company within its SICS Industry publishing complete Scope 1 & 2 data, as defined by the ET Carbon Ranking methodology.
United Nations Global Compact 100 (“GC 100”)
On September 2014 Snam has been selected for inclusion in the United Nations Global Compact 100 (“GC 100”), a global stock index developed and released by the UN Global Compact in partnership with the research firm Sustainalytics.
The index lists the 100 companies which globally outstand for executive leadership commitment and consistent baseline profitability, as well as their adherence to the Global Compact’s ten principles, on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption issues. Besides Snam, only 4 Italian companies are included in the GC 100 index.
Snam is included in five of the most important ECPI Ethical indexes. Since the 2008, Snam has been included in the following ECPI Ethical Indexes:

The certification was carried out by ECPI (now part of Mittel S.p.a., a company listed on the Milan stock exchange), a leading provider of sustainability research, ratings and indices since 1997. ECPI’s methodology consists of screening based on over 100 ESG indicators (environmental, social, governance, etc.) grouped into different macro categories (environmental strategy and management, products and production processes, stakeholder relations, Corporate Governance and compliance with international standards) to monitor more than 4,000 issuers.
On July 2020, oekom research confirmed Snam as “Prime” status (rating B-), which includes Companies leader in their industrial sector for the Corporate Social Responsibility issues.

Stoxx Global ESG Leaders index
Snam has been listed since 2011 in the Stoxx Global ESG Leaders indices, a group of indices based on a fully transparent selection process of the performance, in terms of sustainability, of 1,800 companies worldwide. The ratings are calculated for three sub-areas – environmental, social and governance – and are then combined to form the overall index. The indices are managed by STOXX, the owner of some of the most important international stock indices, such as the STOXX 50.
Vigeo-Eiris, a leading european expert in the assessment of the Companies in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) management, on July 2020 reconfirmed Snam in the following indices, which select the most advanced companies in the performance on environmental, social and governance issues:
- - Euronext Vigeo Eiris World 120 (the 120 most advanced companies from Europe, North America and the Asia Pacific region)
- - Euronext Vigeo Eiris Europe 120 (the 120 most advanced companies in Europe)
- - Euronext Vigeo Eiris Eurozone 120 (the 120 most advanced companies in Eurozone region)
On September 2019 Snam has been reconfirmed as a constituent of the Ethibel Sustainability Index (ESI) Excellence Europe and the Ethibel Sustainability Index (ESI) Excellence Global. Snam has been also reconfirmed for inclusion in the Ethibel PIONEER and Ethibel EXCELLENCE Investment Registers: this selection by Forum ETHIBEL (www.forumethibel.org) indicates that the company can be qualified as a sector leader in terms of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
On March 2021, Sustainalytics confirmed Snam in its ratings with a risk rating of 20.1 (19.8 at the end of 2020) and a ranking of second position out of 85 companies in the gas utility sector (2nd out of 66 at the end of 2020). Sustainalytics is a global leader in ESG and Corporate Governance research and ratings and supports hundreds of the world’s foremost investors who incorporate ESG and corporate governance insights into their investment processes.
