Methanization of Sardinia

Rome, 5 December 2017 - Snam, Società Gasdotti Italia (SGI) and its shareholders Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund 4 and Swiss Life Holding have agreed on a joint project to develop infrastructure for natural gas transportation in Sardinia, which will be supplied from a number of entry points currently identified in Cagliari, Oristano and Porto Torres. The project will lead to lower bills for families and businesses, new opportunities for development and competitiveness for the local economy, and new employment, in particular in the manufacturing and maritime transport sectors.

Development and joint management of Snam and SGI’s gas transportation network will be managed by one of Snam’s subsidiaries and the construction and commissioning of the first section is estimated in the first half of 2020, after obtaining the necessary authorizations.

Snam and SGI will promptly communicate to the market any developments and the conclusion of the ongoing negotiations, which are expected in the coming weeks.
