Abruzzo, €6.3 M for sustainable transport in Teramo

A works plan financed under ROP EFRD and municipal funds

To install a network of sensors monitoring air quality, to improve public transport services through “smart stops” and to purchase low emission buses. These are the initiatives set forth by the Urban Strategy for Sustainable Development of Teramo. They will be financed with €4.6 M under ROP EFRD Abruzzo 2014-2020 plus €1.7 M from municipal funds.
In order to initiate the project, the Municipality signed an agreement with the Single Management Authority in charge of ROP EFRD-ESF Abruzzo which “closes a complex phase of interinstitutional discussion and liaison,” reads a message of the Region of Abruzzo, which “has approved special guidelines for preparation of sustainable urban strategies, has established a working group supporting the cities and has allocated the resources (€40,000 per municipality) as input into the elaboration of the City Plans for Sustainable Mobility (Piani Urbani per la Mobilità Sostenibile, PUMS).”
Pursuant to this agreement, the Municipality has been appointed intermediate body to which the Single Management Authority has delegated the functions of selection of operations and implementation of the measures set forth by the Urban Strategy for Sustainable Development.
