Startup and Guarantee Fund: the financing exceeds one billion

MoED releases the new report

As at mid 2019 the Italian innovative startups received bank financing worth over 1 billion euros thanks to the support of the Guarantee Fund for small- and middle-sized enterprises. These are the findings of the new edition of the quarterly report prepared by the DG for the Industrial Policy at the MoED, in cooperation with MedioCredito Centrale.
A message reminds that the innovative startups that wish to apply for bank financing may activate the coverage from the Guarantee Fund free of charge, following a simplified procedure. The guarantee covers 80% of the loan and it can amount to 2.5 M per business.
Since the instrument was launched in 2013, there has been 2,858 beneficiary startups, accounting for 4,986 operations (952 companies were granted a loan). In the second quarter of 2019, the startups received new bank loans worth 66 M euros. This amount is in line with the recent trends: in 2017 and 2018 preferential financing of over 260 M euros was granted. As at June 30, 2019 the total was 1,011,157,872 euros.
