Public transport, La Spezia aims at methane

12 new buses are coming. City Mayor Peracchini: “Green choice”

The first methane-fueled buses in La Spezia will shortly enter into service. They were presented on Wednesday by City Mayor Pierluigi Peracchini and by President of the local public transport company ATC Esercizio, Gianfranco Bianchi.
It is about 12 vehicles, eight 12-meter Man Lion-s City CNG and four Iveco Crossway Low Entry.
Mayor Peracchini spoke of a “green choice for public transport,” since the new buses “are environmentally friendly thanks to methane, 97% less polluting than diesel and reduced noise emission.”
“Even in a difficult time we are living in, due to the health emergency, and always acting in compliance with the safety of employees and transported citizens, the administration continues to focus attention on the business plan of ATC Esercizio, which provides for the renewal of the fleet of vehicles to provide the best possible service to users and ensure an ever lower environmental impact,” reads a message.
