Climate, the projects under Tuscany’s urban green call

54 initiatives presented. 5 million euros available

A total of 54 projects were submitted under Tuscany’s call promoting tree planting and green areas as a measure to the fight against climate change.
The call was launched last year and is part of the regional strategy “Carbon Neutral Tuscany.” It aims to achieve the goal of climate neutrality by 2050 and has made available 5 million euros for the implementation of integrated projects of pollution abatement. It will be implemented “in the first place, by extending inner-city green areas as well as by creating cycle paths or actions aimed at reducing emissions.”
The next steps envisage, above all, the appointment of the internal commission in charge of the selection of applications, in order to bring forward the release of the ranking with relation to the time-limit of March 31. Then – explains Councilor for the Environment Monia Monni – the Region will use its best endeavors to mobilize new funding to ensure the implementation of projects that for the time being cannot be financed with the initial budget.”
