COP 26, Italy at the ministerial meeting on climate and development

Online meeting organized by the United Kingdom. Focus on G20 and “green finance”

Italy attended a ministerial meeting on climate and development organized by the United Kingdom as part of the pathway towards COP 26.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Luigi Di Maio spoke at the videoconference meeting. The Head of the MoFA “has assured Italy’s maximum commitment, as G20 President and COP 26 co-partner, to foster a global recovery after the pandemic that is green, sustainable and inclusive as well as based on the strengthening of multilateral cooperation,” reads a message.
The Minister also underlined “the importance of adopting a strategic perspective that looks at the sustainable development goals of the UN 2030 Agenda including the achievement of climate neutrality by 2050.” All of this “will require determining further green finance tools, also through greater involvement of the private sector.”
