LNG Rovigo, the MoET approves the expansion

75 LNG carriers arrived at the offshore terminal in 2021

The Ministry of Ecological Transition published DM 543 of December 22, 2021, which authorizes Adriatic LNG to increase the regasification capacity of the facility offshore Rovigo from the current 8 to 9 billion cubic meters per year.
The DM imposes certain requirements. Adriatic LNG will have to especially “update the Environmental Monitoring Plan taking into account the increased use of the terminal, identifying the most significant environmental indicators for the assessment of the state of the marine receptor body and marine biocenosis as well as specifying the measurement points and their frequency.”
In addition, during the first six months of operation with an increase in regasification capacity, the company must “monitor foam formation on a monthly basis in order to identify any increase in this phenomenon in due time and implement containment/abatement measures.”
Finally, there will have to be presented “a maintenance plan for the equipment subject to greater use in the new operating conditions.”
The company announced that in 2021, 75 methane carriers arrived at the terminal of Adriatic LNG, which during the year injected over 6 billion cubic meters of gas in the national network.
