PA: maximum digitalization level in 2021

More than 27 million Spid identities and 26 million Cie, 24.5 million users of App IO and €4.3 billion from online payments with pagoPA

In 2021, the figures related to digitization in public administration have reached record highs. These are the data released by Minister for Technological Innovation and Digital Transition, Vittorio Colao, which indicate that last year 27.4 million Spid identities were activated and almost 26 million electronic identity cards issued, while the number of people using digital identity to access public and private online services is growing. With Spid alone, last year there were 570 million accesses and 22 million authentications with Cie, which marks a significant increase compared to 2020.
Also the IO App chalked up a considerable growth as it was downloaded 24.5 million times, with 1 million monthly downloads and an average of more than 6 million. Today 77,000 services are available on the app, 98% of the total provided by municipalities.
The increase in electronic payments through the pagoPA platform also continues. In December alone, the country recorded record transactions with 22.5 million successful transactions, worth 4.3 billion euros. Transactions were carried out by more than 10 million users, including 500,000 companies. As far as entities are concerned, 99.4% of Italian municipalities promote the payment of their services via pagoPA.
Last but not least, during the year when the first digital registry certificates were launched, Italy reported 7,902 municipalities in the National Register of Resident Population.
