Transition and NRRP, the Region and Universities sign a protocol in Sicily

The objectives include green & digital transition, hydrogen and forms of lower energy and environmental impact production

On Monday President of Sicily, Nello Musumeci signed a protocol with the rectors of the four universities of the island to create a regional research and innovation center, as well as establish a round table coordinating the NRRP and EU funds.
The round table, explains a message, will be called “Coordination of research in Sicily” and will deal with green & digital transition, enhancement of key enabling technologies (KETs), cooperation on projects for the production of low-carbon hydrogen, clean hydrogen diffusion in industrial uses and promotion of initiatives as well as research and development projects to accelerate the transition to forms of lower energy and environmental impact production.
There are also planned actions regarding basic and applied research in the areas of strategic regional development: agri-business, digital, life sciences, cultural heritage, energy, tourism, marine economy.
“As Region and universities, we are expected to face together, in the coming months, old and new challenges ranging from renewable energy to seismicity, desertification to climate change, digital to hydrogen, just to name a few examples,” said President of Sicily, Nello Musumeci, according to whom “we will need a common strategy for the application procedures within the NRRP resources and for any other action area within the new funding cycle of the cohesion policies.”< /p>
