Hydrogen, €130 million for trains in Abruzzo and Lombardy
SUAT tender for 10 bimodal trainsets, FerrovieNord aims at maintenance depot
Hydrogen rail mobility is getting closer and closer. Abruzzo and Lombardy have actually
published in the Official Journal of the EU two calls for tenders related to the sector.
In further detail, Società Unica Abruzzese di Trasporto (SUAT) launched a tender for the
supply of 10 electric/hydrogen bimodal trainsets for regional rail transport through a framework
agreement.
The contract, worth €112.405 million plus VAT, will be signed “with a single supplier” for
the duration of four years and provides for an initial application contract for the supply of three
convoys.
The financing is covered by the complementary fund to the NRRP.
The deadline to submit the bids is May 31, 2022.
FerrovieNord in turn has issued a call for tender for the construction of the hydrogen train
depot and maintenance plant in the Municipality of Rovato (Brescia) for a value of EUR 18.16
million plus VAT.
The subject of the contract, with deadline for submission of bids set for May 5, is the
construction of a new rolling stock maintenance plant, located at the Rovato FN station and its
fleet, as part of the “H2IseO” project aimed at the conversion of the non-electrified railway line
of Brescia-Iseo-Edolo.
The works mainly include a depot for the maintenance and washing of hydrogen trains and
related premises, 5 depot tracks and complete upgrading and adaptation of the Rovato station
forecourt.
