Climate-neutral & smart cities, agreement between MoSIM and the 9 cities selected by the EU

Bergamo, Bologna, Florence, Milan, Padua, Parma, Prato, Rome and Turin to achieve climate neutrality by 2030

Strengthening cooperation between the Ministry of Sustainable Infrastructure and Mobility (MoSIM) and the administrations of the nine Italian cities that the EU Commission selected at the Climate-Neutral & Smart Cities Mission: Bergamo, Bologna, Florence, Milan, Padua, Parma, Prato, Rome and Turin. This is the goal of the Memorandum of Understanding signed on September 9 by Minister Enrico Giovannini and the mayors of the cities involved in the initiative that Brussels launched in 2021. It calls for the municipalities involved to achieve climate neutrality by 2030.
Such a goal will be achieved through zero greenhouse gas emissions or their reduction with offsetting the remaining ones.
The cooperation between the MoSIM and the nine cities aims to work out solutions to accomplish the mission, overcome any critical operational and regulatory issues, promote collaboration for the development of specific projects, including attracting private funds, and identify any additional resources for financing measures.
