Snam Foundation and Confagricoltura sign agreement to promote social agriculture
The Snam Foundation and Confagricoltura have signed a protocol to cooperate in promoting and developing social agriculture projects.
The project was born from the common will to foster innovative and supportive practices in vulnerable areas of public interest in connection with agriculture, protection of the environment and the enhancement of local areas.
The agreement aims to organize one or more competitions for social operators, mainly in the agricultural sector. It also aims to reward projects that can generate beneficial social impact and local development, ensuring replicability and economic sustainability. The selected projects will be supported financially and with a 10-year free concession of unused land owned by Snam.
“This agreement aims to make land available and free of charge for the communities of the areas in which Snam operates. Our hope is that they may become examples of good practice contributing to the social and economic growth of local areas, helping disadvantaged people in particular”, said Carlo Malacarne, Chairman of the Snam Foundation.
“Protecting the environment and achieving sustainability are the cornerstones of the agreement that we are happy to sign with Snam. Our goals are to give opportunities to communities and to consolidate a widespread culture by contributing to the development of local areas through agriculture”, commented Massimiliano Giansanti, Chairman of Confagricoltura.
