Snam: CEO Marco Alverà will receive the Tiepolo Prize 2019

Marco Alverà, Snam’s CEO, has been awarded the Tiepolo Prize 2019.

The news was announced by The Chamber of Commerce and Italian Industry for Spain, the Confederación Española de Organizaciones Empresariales (CEOE), and the Italian Embassy in Spain, which present an annual award to “ individuals whose actions have helped to strengthen economic relations between Italy and Spain, and promote both countries’ profiles to the rest of the world”. The award for an individual in Spain went to Antonio Llardén, the Executive Chairman of Enagas.

Alverà, who has around twenty years’ experience in the energy sector and has headed Snam since 2016, was rewarded for having strengthened Snam’s international presence, particularly through the acquisition of the Greek company DESFA. The acquisition was completed last year alongside Spain’s Enagas and Belgium’s Fluxys. According to the organizers, this initiative “ will strengthen the role of Greece as the Eastern Mediterranean hub, and contribute to the integration of European energy markets”.

The organizers also recognized Snam’s efforts as “ a leader of European energy transition, launching the first experiment to introduce hydrogen into the gas transport network, and creating new businesses such as sustainable mobility, infrastructure for biomethane, and energy efficiency through the Snamtec program”.

The award, which is now on its 23rd edition, will be presented on 25th November in Madrid, at the Amboage Palace, the seat of the diplomatic mission of the Italian Republic.
