“Parco del Ricordo” inaugurated in Poggio Renatico (Ferrara), created with the contribution of Snam

The Civic Center in Piazza del Popolo, completely recovered after the damage of the 2012 earthquake, and the adjacent "Parco del Ricordo" were inaugurated in Poggio Renatico, Ferrara, in the presence of local institutions and Snam.

The new 3.5-hectare green area, a memorial to the earthquake and the city's history, is the result of an environmental compensation project carried out by Snam and consists of a pond, a children's play area, a soccer field, a cycle and pedestrian path and a small amphitheater. Inside the park, about a thousand trees have been planted and some monumental works relating to the territory have been placed.

The inaugural day was attended, among others, by the President of the Emilia-Romagna Region Stefano Bonaccini, the Mayor of Poggio Renatico Daniele Garuti and Patrizia Rutigliano, EVP Institutional Affairs, ESG, Communications & Marketing of Snam.

Snam's contribution to the creation of the "Parco del Ricordo" represents a concrete testimony of the company's dedication to protecting the environment in the territories in which it operates. Poggio Renatico hosts one of the 13 compression plants active along the Italian gas network and is therefore a strategic infrastructure for the national energy supply, allowing imported gas to be conveyed from the South and North-East to the consumption areas, and the storage sites of the Po Valley. In recent years, the plant has been significantly modernised in an attempt to increase its efficiency and reduce its emissions.

At the same time, the creation of new green areas is consistent with Snam's commitment to reforestation activity, as also demonstrated by the collaboration started with Cassa depositi e prestiti in establishing a benefit company focused on these activities.
