Stogit (Snam): Marco Reggiani appointed Chairman

San Donato Milanese (MI), 16 December 2020 - The Shareholders' Meeting of Stogit, the main Italian and European natural gas storage operator, entirely controlled by Snam, today appointed Marco Reggiani as Chairman of the Company.

The appointment of Reggiani, who has been Snam's General Counsel for over ten years, aims to further strengthen Stogit's management team in a phase in which storage is playing an increasingly central role in the energy system, both in ensuring security of supplies and in enabling the energy transition by testing the introduction of renewable gases such as hydrogen.

"In recent years storage facilities have shown on numerous occasions their essential role for the security of energy supplies", said Snam CEO Marco Alverà. "We are now working to make them progressively ready to tackle the challenge of the energy transition. The managerial and legal skills of Marco Reggiani, combined with his in-depth knowledge of the group, will be essential to support Stogit's further development".

"Stogit is an important Italian and European company, with unique skills and a fundamental role for the country's energy security", said the newly appointed Chairman. "I am happy with this appointment and to be able to make an effective contribution in a crucial phase of the company's history characterized by the challenges of decarbonisation and the energy transition".

Stogit manages nine gas storage sites in Italy for a total capacity of 17 billion cubic meters (of which 4.5 of strategic reserve), which makes it the most extensive in Europe and among the largest globally.
