Snam included in Bloomberg's gender equality index

Snam is one of 325 companies from across the globe to have been included in Bloomberg’s Gender-Equality Index (GEI) 2020. The GEI tracks the financial performance of public companies that are committed to improving gender equality through policy development, specific initiatives, and corporate transparency.

The index uses a range of factors to measure gender equality, including female leadership, commitment to reducing the gender pay gap, and inclusion. This year, Bloomberg broadened the number of companies eligibile for inclusion in the index to nearly 6,000 across 84 countries and regions.

Snam’s CEO, Marco Alverà, said: “Being included in Bloomberg’s Gender-Equality Index is an important achievement, which honours Snam’s company-wide commitment to gender equality, equal opportunities and ESG factors, which are all essential to create sustainable value in the future. Snam was the first Italian listed company to create a board committee dedicated to ESG factors and one of the first to introduce gender equality into company bylaws. We are strongly committed to increasing and enhancing the number of female employees and all forms of diversity at Snam at all levels, starting with our recruitment process. Our commitment extends beyond the company itself, with various training initiatives in place to encourage young students to study STEM subjects.”

Bloomberg’s chairman, Peter T. Grauer, said: “The 325 companies included in the 2020 GEI have shown their commitment to transparency and demonstrated leadership in gender-related data reporting. Disclosure of company statistics and practices is an important first step in supporting global gender equality.”
