In the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index, the most prestigious global stock exchange index for Corporate Social Responsibility, Snam obtained an overall score of 81 points
Socially responsible investors make their investment choices both on the basis of financial performance and of ethical, social and environmental criteria above all.
At 31.12.2019 the total weight of the Investment Funds which also include SRI (Socially Responsible Funds) criteria in their investment choices stands at 13.3% compared to the total of institutional investors.

In September 2019, Snam was confirmed for the eleventh consecutive year by RobecoSAM in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index, the most important global stock market valuation index of corporate social responsibility. This year's results, 81 points, put the company in second place in its subsector, after the best performer (85 pt); in particular, Snam increased its scores in every sector.
Established in 1999 with the aim of tracking excellent economic, social and environmental performances from companies all over the world, the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index includes 318 companies,14 of which from Italy, on a total 2526 invited companies. Founded in 1995, RobecoSAM is an investment specialist focused exclusively on Sustainability Investing. As of 30 June 2019, RobecoSAM had assets under management, advice and/or license in listed and private equity of USD 24.3 billion.

Following the December 2019 Index Review, FTSE International has informed that Snam has been independently assessed according to the FTSE Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) methodology and it has been reconfirmed in the FTSE4Good Index Series, where the Company has been listed since 2002.
FTSE4Good was created by the FTSE Group to facilitate investments in companies that meet globally recognised corporate responsibility standards and constitutes an important reference point for the establishment of benchmarks and ethical portfolios.
Companies in the FTSE4Good Index have met stringent environmental, social and governance criteria, and are therefore potentially better positioned to capitalise on the benefits of responsible business practice.

Snam has been recognized for leadership in corporate sustainability by global environmental non-profit CDP, securing a place on its prestigious ‘A List’ for tackling climate change.
Snam was recognized for its actions to cut emissions, mitigate climate risks and develop the low-carbon economy, based on the data reported by the company through CDP’s 2020 climate change questionnaire.
We are one of a small number of high-performing companies out of 5,800+ that were scored. Through significant demonstrable action on climate, we are leading on corporate environmental ambition, action and transparency worldwide.
CDP (formerly the “Carbon Disclosure Project”) is one of the world’s leading not-for-profit climate change organizations, assessing transparency in the disclosure of information on climate change and greenhouse gas emissions, as well as in the management of water resources. Snam’s collaboration with CDP dates back to 2007, when the company started taking part in the assessments carried out by this organization.

ET Index Research, an independent research body, which ranks the world’s largest companies according to greenhouse gas emissions and disclosure, released its annual ET Carbon Rankings on 5th December and named SNAM as an Industry Carbon Leader for 2016. SNAM wins the award for ranking top of the SICS (Sustainability Industry Classification System) Oil and Gas (Midstream) Industry. The Engaged Tracking (ET) Carbon Rankings are compiled from publicly available emissions data taken from company sustainability reports, annual reports and websites. An ET Industry Carbon Leader is defined as the most carbon efficient company within its SICS Industry publishing complete Scope 1 & 2 data, as defined by the ET Carbon Ranking methodology.

Snam shares have been reconfirmed in the STOXX Global ESG Leaders Indices (where the Company has been listed since 2011), a group of indices based on a fully transparent selection process of the performance, in terms of sustainability, of 1,800 companies worldwide.
The ratings are calculated for three sub-areas – environmental, social and governance – and are then combined to form the overall index. The indices are managed by STOXX, the owner of some of the most important international stock indices, such as the STOXX50.
Vigeo
Vigeo-Eiris, a leading european expert in the assessment of the Companies in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) management, on july 2020 reconfirmed Snam in the following indices, which select the most advanced companies in the performance on environmental, social and governance issues:

Ethibel
On september 2019 Snam has been reconfirmed as a constituent of the Ethibel Sustainability Index (ESI) Excellence Europe and the Ethibel Sustainability Index (ESI) Excellence Global. Snam has been also reconfirmed for inclusion in the Ethibel PIONEER and Ethibel EXCELLENCE Investment Registers since 01/02/2017: this selection by Forum ETHIBEL (www.forumethibel.org) indicates that the company can be qualified as a sector leader in terms of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

On july 2020, Sustainalytics confirmed Snam in its ratings with a risk rating of 20.3 (vs 21.4 of 2019) and a ranking of second position out of 66 companies in the gas utility sector (third position out of 54 in 2019).
