Company structure
Snam operates through its subsidiaries (Snam Rete Gas and Infrastrutture Trasporto Gas, Stogit and Gnl Italia), focused on the management and development of the following regulated businesses: transportation and dispatching, storage and regasification of natural gas. Snam is also active in biomethane, in sustainable mobility, in energy efficiency and in hydrogen.
In relation to the subsidiaries, Snam plays a strategic role, direction, coordination and control and provides services to them.
TRANSPORTATION
Since seventy years Snam Rete Gas has been building and managing the infrastructure for the transmission of natural gas. In 2017 Snam completed the acquisition of 100% of the issued share capital of Infrastrutture Trasporto Gas (ITG).
STORAGE
With 9 operating storage sites located across Italy, Stogit is the largest European player in storage of natural gas.
REGASIFICATION
Gnl Italia is active in the regasification of liquefied natural gas and operates the Panigaglia plant near La Spezia.
ENERGY TRANSITION
Snam aims to invest in new energy transition businesses. These include sustainable mobility (compressed – CNG and bio-CNG – and liquefied – LNG and bio-LNG – natural gas distributors, Small Scale LNG), infrastructure for biomethane from organic waste and agricultural and agro-industrial waste, and energy efficiency services tailored to apartment buildings, the public administration and industry, hydrogen.
